Bumm Deal

22 Jul

Thanks to Rachel’s suggestion, I have used up the Berroco DK in Pimpernel, which is a cool red-pink color I used as an accent in the Sheep Yoke Cardigan.

What did I knit up? Bumm Soakers, of course!

Also known as woolies, these little panties (that one’s for you Sam) cover cloth diapers.  Once a staple in the baby wardrobe in the ’30s and ’40s, they’re making a comeback with the resurgence of cloth diapers. I’m seriously considering cloth diapers- not for me, but for possible future little pebbles. Especially when you look at the cost of disposable diapers over a year, $2600, it seems like a no-brainer. I say that now, I’ll let you know how I feel after a month of washing poopy diapers.

Here’s what the cute little set looks like:

So sweet! I think I’ll try making the next set of soakers a bit smaller, these turned out bigger than I expected- knit up on US 6 needles. I’ll cast on fewer stitches (maybe 54 instead of 60), too.

I hope you have a great Friday! Thanks for stopping by-

FYI, when the time comes. There are diaper services that handle the cleaning of cloth diapers. They pick up the dirty ones, leave clean ones, and you don’t have to deal with washing them. Laura and I looked into them, but there weren’t any services that came all the way out to east bumble when Spencer was born. If I remember correctly, the services around Atlanta were actually cheaper than disposable diapers.

Thanks for the unfortunate shout-out RC. PS… Collin and Julia really seem to like their cloth diapers, and it seems to be pretty easy once they got the attachment sprayer for the toilet… and they come in such cute colors.
