Yup, that’s right peeps- tonight is the night for the big shot. Tim is all studied up and I put on lacy underwear so he has something nice to look at while jabbing a needle into my butt. Wahoo!
I’ve been going to the doctor every day since Thursday to have blood work done and an ultrasound. On these last 2-3 visits, the ultrasound has been quite uncomfortable considering my hatcheries (aka ovaries) have ballooned to the size of a human fist. Each. My left hatchery hides behind the hen house (aka uterus), so it’s particularly tricky to get a clear picture. Basically, lots of pushing and prodding, cramping and bruising. So I am tickled pink to announce that today was the last daily ultrasound for a while- yipee!
My little flock has grown to a healthy size and are ready for harvesting. I’ll have the surgery on Thursday morning, so I’ll probably be MIA here on the blog for the rest of the week- if I’m honest with myself. Depending on what we decide to do, the transplant procedure will take place either 3 or 5 days after the surgery- so either Sunday or Tuesday. We’re leaning in the direction of ‘planting’ two younger embryos (3 days) instead of 1 older embryo (5 days). This will increase the chance of twins, but I hate the thought that if we plant 1, we might get none. I really don’t want to have to go through this again.
So- that’s the scoop. Wish us luck- Tim is a bit nervous about giving me the shot tonight. If I were a meaner person, I would love to play a little trick on him- like screaming bloody murder when he jabs me. But I know he’s all worked up about it, so I’ll be nice.
Thanks for stopping by- and talk to you soon!
