And They’re Off…

Square Foot Garden Grid

This afternoon is so beautiful- I have to be outside. A little gardening action is just what the doctor ordered. So I laid out the square foot garden grid with a few roofing nails and nylon line. Following my handy-dandy garden plan, I placed all the seeds in their squares and took an action shot:

A few seeds sewn, and now they’re off to the races- and this ain’t no rat race, either. Yum yum food on the run!

I went ahead and planted everything that was supposed to be planted in February and March. Looking at the Farmer’s Alamanac, it looks like we may have a few more cold nights, but everything is definitely warming up. I’m happy that it’s 70 degrees in February, but I’m also a bit concerned that it’s going to be a very hot and dry summer. So says the almanac- I should get going on the rain barrels, shouldn’t I?

Grow, Baby, Grow!

(Just a last minute thought- even though the weather is warm, the sun is still in it’s winter position- thank gawd that hasn’t changed. But that means that the garden still will only get about 4-6 hours of sun for a while. When sun moves south, it will have at least 10-12 hours of direct sun, especially in the late afternoon. )

Catching up on your blog. Love Mr. Buns and his basket, etc. What are you thinking about knitting next? Love the quilt – in so many ways. Thinking that the colors are perfect in your master bedroom. Goes great with the owl – what do you think? The weekly menu sounds yum. Hard to think that the variety you’re working on is easy. They all sound delicious. And finally – grow little garden, grow! Love reading all these and love the pictures, too. Can’t wait to see what you will come up with next!
