This afternoon is so beautiful- I have to be outside. A little gardening action is just what the doctor ordered. So I laid out the square foot garden grid with a few roofing nails and nylon line. Following my handy-dandy garden plan, I placed all the seeds in their squares and took an action shot:
I went ahead and planted everything that was supposed to be planted in February and March. Looking at the Farmer’s Alamanac, it looks like we may have a few more cold nights, but everything is definitely warming up. I’m happy that it’s 70 degrees in February, but I’m also a bit concerned that it’s going to be a very hot and dry summer. So says the almanac- I should get going on the rain barrels, shouldn’t I?
(Just a last minute thought- even though the weather is warm, the sun is still in it’s winter position- thank gawd that hasn’t changed. But that means that the garden still will only get about 4-6 hours of sun for a while. When sun moves south, it will have at least 10-12 hours of direct sun, especially in the late afternoon. )
