I’m going to try to post a weekly menu to help me cook more at home. You see, I have a little confession to make- my name is Robin and I’m afraid to cook. This may surprise some of you- especially if you’ve ever had a piece of my cake. But for some reason, baking and cooking are two very different things to me. Cakes, cookies, sweets and breads come naturally to me- something in my brain understands the chemical processes and how the flavors will work out. But when it comes to vegetables and meats and savory spices- it’s like a big brick wall in my brain.
So I’ve decided to try to do something about it. Like Karen over at the Art of Doing Stuff, I’m going to post a weekly menu here on the site. I have found that this blog is making me feel accountable to myself- which is a great thing, thanks to all you readers out there. So I’m going to try to harness that accountability and teach myself some healthy cooking habits. Practice builds skill, and skill improves self-confidence, which in turn encourages practice. One healthy circle! Heck- half the battle for me is the menu planning and shopping. So here’s my first menu:
So this will get me through the weekend, when I can sit down and plan another weekly menu. None of the recipes are mine in any way- I’m scouring my library and the internet for easy-sounding meals. And I’m not planning on taking pictures of my food or posting them here, so you won’t be subjected to my failures. If there are any successes, I’ll be sure to let you guys know, and if you’re really curious about a recipe, leave a comment and I’ll share it with you.
Thanks everyone for reading my blog- it helps so much to know I have so many encouraging and loving people in my life. You guys are what it’s all about. Love you!
