Grant Park Farmers’ Market

15 Feb

Calling all neighborvores! Sick of traveling to the sun-baked East Atlanta Village Farmer’s Market, or even further out to Decatur’s Market for your locally-grown food fix?  Good news-  Grant Park is getting its own Sunday farmer’s market! I read the good news on the Creative Loafing Omnivore Blog, and as of today,  the market’s Facebook page has gathered almost 700 fans. This is big news for us Grant Park residents.

According to the Omnivore, the market will be open from 10 AM to 2 PM on Sundays, May 15th through November 20th. The location is yet to be finalized, but the neighborhood association hopes to make the area surrounding the Miledge Fountain in Grant Park the eventual home. Planned vendors include fruit and vegetable farmers from around the central Georgia area, local artisanal bread and cheese producers, as well as artists and crafters from the area. As they launch, they are also planning many community events and farm-to-fork explorations with local restaurants to hype up community pride and local togetherness.

I’m so excited, I can hardly stand it! Now I’m trying to contact anyone of the organizers to volunteer my time and services.  Check out the Market’s Facebook page for discussions and products.
